Google to invest $1.1bn in Finland data centre expansion
FINLAND: Google is set to spend $1.1bn to expand its main data centre in Hamina, Finland due to the location's access to a large supply of renewable electricity. In addition, heat rejected from the data centre will be used in the local district heat network for nearby homes. Google says access to green energy and district heating may start to 'steer' decisions over future data centre locations.
