JPMorganChase, one of the world’s largest financial organisations, is set to invest between £300 million and £350 million in a major redevelopment of its Bournemouth campus, marking a significant commitment to upgrading one of its key operational hubs outside London.
The plans include a new building and extensive refurbishment of existing facilities to support the firm’s expanding workforce and reinforce its position as the largest private sector employer in Dorset.
The project will modernise the site, originally established in 1986, to create a state-of-the-art centre focused on financial innovation, payments technology, and artificial intelligence. Once complete, the upgraded campus will serve more than 5,300 employees and provide enhanced collaborative spaces, wellness facilities, and updated workplace environments.
The redevelopment will be subject to planning approval, with applications expected to be submitted in the coming weeks. The new building and refurbishments are intended to align with JPMorganChase’s global real estate strategy, which prioritises modern infrastructure to foster innovation and support employee wellbeing.
Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon said the investment reflects the firm’s confidence in the region’s talent pool. "Bournemouth has long demonstrated that there is strong financial services and technology talent outside of London," he said. "This long-term investment in a world-class workplace is something the community will truly benefit from."
The Bournemouth site, which processes around 350,000 transactions daily worth over $1 trillion, is JPMorganChase’s second-largest location in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The site employs professionals across technology, operations, and client services, playing a vital role in the firm’s global network.
While the primary focus is the campus upgrade, the firm has also announced a £3.5 million philanthropic package over five years. This includes £980,000 for Business in the Community (BITC) to promote skills-based hiring and access to apprenticeships.
