Bollo Lane student tower clears Gateway 2
429-bed Acton scheme approval secured in 22 weeks

A 21-storey student accommodation development in Acton has secured Gateway 2 approval in just 22 weeks. Block AB at Bollo Lane will provide 429 purpose-built student bedrooms alongside commercial space as part of a wider development for Hurlington Capital near Acton Town Station.
Under the Building Safety Act regime, Gateway 2 is a key stage for higher-risk buildings and must be passed before relevant building work can begin. Designed by DMWR Architects, Block AB will rise to 21 storeys above a basement level.
HG Construction has now been appointed main contractor for the project and will draw on its self-delivery capabilities across piling, cranes, mechanical and electrical services and offsite system pods.
The ground floor will contain four commercial units, with a further three commercial spaces planned for the first floor, combining student accommodation with employment and amenity uses within the same building.
The project forms part of a wider mixed-use development at Bollo Lane, which will also include Block JK. According to HG Construction, Block JK will provide 95 new affordable homes adjacent to Acton Town Station. Together, the two elements will add student and affordable housing as part of the continuing regeneration of this part of Acton.
HG's appointment also continues the contractor's relationship with Hurlington Capital, with DMWR Architects forming part of the wider project team responsible for securing the Gateway 2 approval.
The scheme adds to the pipeline of purpose-built student accommodation being brought forward across London, while combining the student element with affordable housing and commercial space around an established transport connection.
