Caddick Construction starts work on later living scheme in Bradford

Scheme will deliver 75 Anchor apartments for older people

12 February 2026

Caddick Construction has commenced work on Ashfield Mills, a £20.7 million later living development in Idle, Bradford, being delivered on behalf of Anchor. The scheme will provide 75 purpose-built apartments for older residents, alongside communal amenities, landscaped areas and on-site parking.

Appointed via the NEPO Construction Works framework, Caddick was procured to deliver high-quality homes for later life through an efficient and compliant route. The project is expected to complete in 2027 and will incorporate a series of community-focused initiatives, including training and employment opportunities and support for local good causes during the build phase.

Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for people in later life, said the scheme represents a significant investment in modern, independent living. Victoria Mager, director of development delivery at Anchor, said: “Our ambition is to create welcoming, modern places that help residents stay connected and live well for longer.”

The Ashfield Mills project builds on Caddick’s recent experience in Bradford, including the completion of One City Park—delivered in partnership with Muse and Bradford Council—which became the city’s first Grade A office building in two decades.

Steve Ford, regional managing director for Caddick Construction North East & Yorkshire, said: “This new development will offer residents independent living with the peace of mind that comes from a supportive community environment. We will work in collaboration with our partners and supply chain to successfully bring this development to life.”

Jane Turner, construction lead at the North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO), added that the project reflects the NEPO framework’s aim to deliver value for money while supporting social value outcomes across the region.
