Castleforge and Galaxy secure approval for Redhill data centre expansion

Scheme will deliver new digital infrastructure capacity for the London market.

6 May 2026

Castleforge and Galaxy Data Centers have secured planning permission for a major data centre redevelopment at Redhill in Surrey.

Approved by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, the scheme will replace ageing facilities on the existing site with a new two-storey data centre comprising four data halls and associated office space.

The development forms part of the joint venture’s plans to expand digital infrastructure capacity within the wider London market, where demand for data centre space continues to grow rapidly due to AI, cloud computing and high-density digital workloads.

Located at Foxboro Business Park, the redevelopment will involve the demolition of existing buildings and infrastructure before construction of the new facility, which has been designed to improve operational efficiency and environmental performance while maintaining the site’s long-established employment use.

The project is targeting a minimum BREEAM Very Good rating and will incorporate low- and zero-carbon technologies, including solar photovoltaic panels and air source heat pumps. The scheme has also been designed to support future export of waste heat to a nearby residential heat network.

Planning documents describe the Redhill site as strategically important due to its proximity to London and its role within the capital’s wider data centre ecosystem. The redevelopment aims to modernise critical infrastructure on a brownfield site while supporting continued growth in digital services and connectivity.

The expansion follows significant investment into the existing Redhill campus and is expected to further strengthen the site’s position within the UK’s growing data infrastructure market.

With planning approval now secured, the joint venture will move forward with the next phase of development for the scheme.
